This body of work has developed gradually over time, across different seasons and states of mind. Some pieces emerged in stillness, others in moments of energy — each carrying its own rhythm, yet all connected through a shared language of colour, balance, and quiet strength.

While my process has always been intuitive, my focus has shifted more recently towards a sense of familiarity — an atmosphere that feels both grounded and quietly emotive. It’s less about place, and more about a feeling that sits just beneath the surface, something recognised rather than explained.

Each painting begins as a search for balance: between light and dark, structure and freedom, control and surrender. I allow colour and form to lead, building layers that unfold over time.

There’s a rhythm in this process that invites both intention and release, where the work is guided as much by instinct as by decision. Imperfection remains present, though it’s no longer something I feel the need to emphasise. It exists naturally within the work — in the uneven edges, subtle shifts, and unplanned moments that bring warmth and honesty to each piece.

These elements allow the paintings to feel lived-in rather than constructed, holding a sense of ease rather than precision. I’ve always been drawn to spaces that feel personal and unforced — interiors that are layered, expressive, and quietly imperfect, as well as the organic forms found in nature.

The botanical elements within my work reflect both of these influences, acting as a visual language for exploring emotion, memory, and presence.

There is an ongoing dialogue in my practice between opposites — order and spontaneity, softness and structure, the seen and the felt.

Ultimately, my work is created to be lived with — to bring a sense of atmosphere into a space, and to connect on an emotional level rather than simply a visual one.
